Today i am going to be reviewing the Tesco orchard Christmas showstoppers programme i was lucky enough to be invited too.
Firstly for those who are probably thinking what on earth is Tesco orchard it is a programme where you sign up (free of charge) and fill in surveys to get points when programmes become available you will receive a email to say if you have been invited or not, once you receive the email you simply reply by the ‘i want in’ button and fill out a short form, sounds complicated? not at all once you have filled out the form all you do is sit back and wait for the coupons to be posted out to you. Spending the coupons is the fun part you basically get to try new things for free or for less and there is no problems at the checkout or embarrassment when using the vouchers you then have to try the product (yummy) and give feedback on the Tesco orchard website you do earn club-card points and receive more points to get a better score and better chance on future invites.
Before Christmas i was invited to this programme what sounded so fun i could not wait to get my coupons, when they arrived i received i received coupons for a free Christmas pudding which i think was worth a massive £10 and a free coupon to try a Tesco cranberry sauce, there was also 3 more coupons to give to friends but i did do this one a little different i had over 17 family members round at Christmas so it involved lots of food and lots of pudding but thanks to the Tesco Orchard i had the chance to save massive amounts on my Christmas puddings.
Tesco Cranberry Sauce Review:
Firstly i will be reviewing the cranberry sauce unfortunately i do not have a picture of the sauce but the packaging was very eye catching and the brand was Tesco’s own make. I have to admit i am not really a lover of cranberry sauce this was my first time trying it and i was not dissapointed, i added the sauce to my turkey which give the meat more flavour and that special touch. The cranberry sauce was a sweet taste and the cranberries where not too overpowering but they could be distinguished and since trying the sauce i have started to add it to more dishes i think the sauce is a big hit with cheesy rice dishes as it gives them more flavour. Overall i was really happy with this product i had the chance to try it for free and me and my family was all discussing about how lovely it was i would highly recommend.
Tesco Finest 12 month matured Christmas pudding review:
Moving onto the first Christmas pudding we tried this product was Tesco finest 12 month matured and was recommened to serve 8 but this easily shared 8 with a bit left over and each of us had a generous amount. I served the pudding with custard to give it that extra flavour this pudding was out of this world it simply melted in my mouth! the Christmas pudding was infused with cider, amontillado, sherry and ruby port none of the ingredients where over powering but there was enough flavour to recognise each one. One of my family members asked if i could serve their’s with vanilla ice cream this looked absolutely gorgeous i did have to try it the vanilla and pudding went lovely together but i did prefer the custard version as it was better served hot and the custard melted over. We was enjoying out pudding with a nice bottle of sherry which was a perfect idea as the pudding had ruby sherry in too.
The ingredients inside the pudding included: Vine Fruits (38%) (Raisins, Turkish Sultanas, Greek Vostizza Currants), Demerara Sugar, Wheat Flour (Wheat Flour, Calcium Carbonate, Iron, Niacin, Thiamin), Brandy Soaked Glacé Cherries (6%), Cider (4.5%), COURVOISIER® VS Cognac (4%) (Contains Colour: Plain Caramel), Vegetable Suet (Palm Oil, Rice Flour, Sunflower Oil), Amontillado Sherry (2.5%), Almonds, Mixed Peel (Orange Peel, Lemon Peel), Free Range Pasteurised Egg, Pecan Nuts, French Brandy (2%), Humectant (Glycerine), Molasses, Ruby Port, Single Cream (Milk), Mixed Spice (Coriander, Cinnamon, Clove, Fennel, Ginger, Nutmeg, Cardamom), Yeast, Salt, Spirit Vinegar, Wheat Protein, Emulsifiers (Mono- and Di-Glycerides of Fatty Acids, Mono- and Di-Acetyltartaric Esters of Mono- and Di-Glycerides of Fatty Acids), Orange Oil, Rapeseed Oil, Palm Oil, Lemon Oil, Flour Treatment Agent (Ascorbic Acid), Brandy Soaked Glacé Cherries contain: Cherries, Glucose-Fructose Syrup, French Brandy, Colour (Anthocyanins), Acidity Regulator (Citric Acid)
I would not recommend this product to anyone with nut allergies as this may contain traces of nuts, overall i was really happy with this pudding and my family also spoke highly about it my Nan asked if there was a little bit left for her to take home with her i did not hesitate to cut her a piece as there was quite a lot left but it was hard to give away as the taste was unreal this was certainly the finest of pud’s!!
Tesco Finest Matured Christmas pudding review:
The second pudding was a small version of the last one i reviewed this one was a little cheaper i think it was something silly like £3-£4 on offer at the time i purchased it which was a absolute bargain. This product was put away for boxing day as we had 6 friends over for dinner and what better way than to round of your roast dinner with this gorgeous pudding this isn’t just any old Christmas pud this was a Tesco finest rich infused pudding that all my family was talking about when i served this smaller version with friends after our dinner again everyone passed comment on how lovely it was and asked me where it was from i did not hesitate to explain where i got it from and i could not recommend it enough. This pudding served 4 people but we stretched it out to 6 people i have tried many puddings over the years but this has to be my favourite so far i usually love Marks & Spencer’s deserts but after trying this particular product i will not be buying anything else in the upcoming years i would highly recommend to anyone especially those who have a sweet tooth everything about this Christmas product screams premium.
Toffee & Pecan Sponge Pudding Review:
Last but not least was the all time favourite for me the toffee and pecan pudding was a big hit, on New Year’s Day it is tradition for me and my family to have another lovely dinner but the pudding can also be a dilemma finding a pudding for all of you and your family to agree on can be tricky but after trying the previous 2 i had confidence in this product and it certainly lived up to expectations. This product was a moist all butter sponge pudding with crunchy pecans finished with a creamy toffee sauce. I am a sucker for sweet deserts so this was my favourite out of the 3, I served this pudding with vanilla ice cream (a family members suggestion) as if i added custard it probably would of ruined it or made it too sweet so the vanilla ice cream was the safest choice. The pecan sponge fell apart on the spoon it was a dish of yummines! i have never tried pecans before i am aware of pecan pies but they was not really appealing for me but i really enjoyed this particular desert it was another finest pud!! the pecans really added the flavour and could only be described as mouth watering i did serve this piping hot so when brought to the table it was steaming and the toffee was the first thing i could smell so i could not wait to tuck into this. Overall i was really happy with this product they where value for money and i would pay full price for them all the offers around Christmas on these products where a bargain and i now understand why Tesco have a Finest range. I would urge anyone to try this if you like pecans or are a fan of toffee puddings this is the product for you i am counting down until Christmas 2016 so i can try more from the range.
Overall i was really happy with this programme at first it was not very appealing to me but i certainly chose the right programme, other vouchers i could of received ranged from meats to Christmas cakes, wines, festive puddings etc but i went ahead with the safest product that won all my family round and me too i will be buying more in the future and will simply pay that bit more for Tesco Finest products it is not all about the brand it was the quality and ingredients price is nothing if you are getting what you pay for and on this occasion they are worth every penny.
As always thank you very much for reading sorry my review is long but i could write about these products all day, i would love to hear more feedback or any recommendations for Tesco Finest products and hope to review more in the future as well as more Tesco Orchard invites i will link the website below for anyone wanting to sign up you will not be disappointed #TriedForLess #TriedForFree #TescoOrchard.
